Amsterdam - April 2001

  Amsterdam has bikes everywhere.

It also has tons of canals. They call them "grachts" which is pronounced <cough>ra<cough>t.

Here's Andrea in Iceland on the way to Amsterdam.

A really big chess board. It sorta makes it more fun to watch this way.

Of course Holland is known for tulips and they sell lots of them in the flower shops.

A view of Vondelpark - a couple blocks from our hotel.

Some daffodils in Vondelpark. Yellow is a happy color. :-)

Funny story here. I took this picture while we were wandering around trying to find the hotel. We didn't find it till about an hour after I took the picture but it turned out our hotel is the building right behind this tree.

We didn't end up going in here but we had to take a picture for Mucifer.

Yet another pretty canal. Will it never end?

Black and white view of the canal at night. Even the ones that look ratty during the day look gorgeous at night.

Our hotel. Look closely and you'll see Andrea in the window of our room.

  Andrea in our hotel room.

I want one of these cute little cars. I probably could have carried it on the plane no problem.

The view down the street from our hotel.

A rainy night on the Leidseplien. Or is that Liedseplein?

  A place we ate sushi.

A tram going along the Amstel river from which Amsterdam gets it's name.

The breakfast table. They have the most beautiful money I've ever seen in Holland.
